Abstract:  A privacy boundary management model is proposed based on communication privacy management theory to elaborate how App users demarcate and regulate their privacy boundaries and analyze the important role that the proxy privacy assurance approaches play in the formation of privacy boundaries. Results indicate that government regulation is more effective than industry self-discipline in promoting the formation of privacy boundaries while privacy policies and privacy protection technologies of companies exercise a crucial influence over shaping App users risk perception and control perception. Privacy risk perception and control perception are two vital factors that ultimately influence their willingness to authorize their personal information. Information sensitivity and information relevance have significant influence on users privacy risk perception. Moderated by information sensitivity, there is apparent discrepancy in the degree of influence of perceived privacy policy effectiveness on perceived privacy risk.
