Abstract:

With the development of network and users’ growing participation in the Internet, the emerging new words in the network have greatly enriched Chinese language and its culture, and enhanced its expressiveness. From “streaking” to “complete retirement”, “naked officials”, “naked marriage” and “naked resignation” and so on, the Chinese character of “Luo” has produced a series of new words, and meanings and color of “Luo” words have also been evolving. The meaning of the “Luo” word continues to expand, while its emotional colors of humor, sarcasm and etc. increase, so that the “Luo” words in the network are widely used. The characteristics and reasons for the formation of “Luo” words from the aspects of politics, economy and culture by using “the spiral of silence” theory are analyzed.
