Abstract: The finance and insurance industry holds a very important status in the national economy, with the functions of optimizing capital allocation and playing the roles of regulating and supervising economy. The finance and insurance industry is closely linked with each branch of the national economy. Based on the input-output tables of 42 products branch in 2002, this paper analyses the situations of the finance and insurance industry from the perspective of input structure, use structure, added value and industrial linkage. The result shows that the finance and insurance industry imposes a minor effect in pulling the economic development, and therefore it is an industry featuring strong constraint and weak radiation.
