Abstract:

In our country, the prevalence of distance education students in the high turnover rate of the phenomenon affects not only the school’s unit cost, but also longrange impact on the educational institutions of social trust, and to some extent hinders the longterm development of distance education. In order to identify the reasons why students drop out of school, this article surveys the students in distance education enrolled from 2004 to the fall 2006 in School of Network Education, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. Through reviewing student files and data analysis, the article investigates the characteristics of student dropouts, and thus proposes corresponding solutions.
