Study of Mental Health of Minority College Students#br# ——Taking the minority college students in Beijing University of Posts and #br# Telecommunications as an example

Abstract:

To understand mental health status of the minority students, study and explore the measures to improve the minority students’ psychological quality, taking minority college students in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications as research subject, a comparative analysis is conducted, through collecting six factor scores of the symptom check list (SCL)-90 which reflect the mental health and corresponding factors in the latest national undergraduate SCL-90 norm The results show minority college students’ mental health were significantly lower than that of the national norm (anxiety factor P<005; depression factor P<005); whether the only child in family and whether to have religious beliefs both show significant difference in mental health level Consequently, minority college students’ mental health should be paid more attention to, and especially in schools, the students’ faith should be respected Proper guidance to strengthening the mental health education of minority college students should be given
