Abstract:

Japanese loanwords in Chinese Internet buzzwords are classified and analyzed in order to find out the types of these Japanese loanwords According to the research, there are six types found out which can be named “transliteration”, “translation”, “Chinese characters borrowed”, “Latin alphabet borrowed”, “ special grammatical structures borrowed” and “specific anime words borrowed” The reasons why these Japanese words are borrowed and used as Chinese Internet buzzwords are also discussed One of the reasons is that ACG (animation, comic, game) industry is highly developed in Japan and spread to the world As a result, young netizens in China are so deeply attracted by it that they prefer borrowing and using Japanese words associated to ACG in the six types as mentioned above Another important reason is that Chinese characters are used as an important symbolic notation in the text fields in both Chinese and Japanese Therefore, it is more convenient to borrow Chinese-character-formed Japanese words and use them as loanwords
