Abstract: This paper tries to evaluate the social governance degree for each province in 2015 through constructing an index system, which comprises 6 main factors—social stability, basic living standard, public service level, healthcare and educational equity, social participation and employment It shows that gaps prevail among various cities and provinces with Beijing and Shanghai taking the lead while Gansu, Guizhou, Yunnan and Qinghai being the last 4 provinces Therefore, it suggests promoting regional economic development to improve the status of social governance, establishing a modern financial system to support social governance, and encouraging the multi-participation to stimulate the vitality of social governance
