Abstract: In practical English teaching, researchers and teachers have made great achievements in the reform of the teaching methods and materials. There are still some problems existing. One of them is the low effect of the teaching and learning. This paper attempts to analyze the self-managed learning and the power of understanding, work out some useful measures to improve the learners’ power of understanding, so as to make the teaching and learning more effective.
