Abstract: Functionally, news texts are aimed at conveying information. From the perspective of functionalism, the present paper elaborates the differentiation of the Chinese and English languages with the analysis of ample examples. It intends to say that the translator dealing with news translation needs to bring the target language into full play so that the information can be transferred faithfully to the target readers.
