Logistic Features in Process Industry and Discrete Industry

Abstract:

This article made comparative study of the logistic features in process manufacturing industry whose representative is continual process manufacturing and discrete manufacturing industry whose representative is job shop manufacturing, and furthermore, provided a frame for analyzing logistic management and operation in these two industries First, the author summarized the differences between the two industries in raw materials and products, technology process, equipments by sorting relevant articles Then the author put forward features of logistic operation in two industries at different logistic stages The demonstration was based on the chemical industry which is the representative of process industry and vehicle industry which is the representative of discrete industry The author pointed out that the physical character, product structure and process flow would determine the logistic operation model in several important functional areas, such as supply logistics, production logistics, distribution logistics and reverse logistics, etc
