Abstract: The scientific appraisal of Mao Zedong& the safeguard the historical status of Mao Zedong& Mao Zedong Thouht is one of the two major contributions of historic significance made by Deng Xiaoping, who did not only decide on such general principles as” establishing the historical status of Comrade Mao Zedong, uoholding& de¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬¬voloping Mao Zedong Thought”, but also proposed a series of methodological principles as follows: emancipating our minds, being practical& realistic; making correct comparison between his contributions and faults made in his whole life; analyzing dialectically things from the outside to the inside; and distinguishing right from wrong from an overall viewpoint, which provides our Party with theoretical guidelines to make scientific appraisal of Mao Zedong, uphold& develop Mao Zedong Thougt .
