Abstract: In order to describe various components and the relationships between the different areas in the information industry, this paper proposes an information industry map based on an intensive survey of many different poinions about the scope and contents of the industry. The paper also points out that based on different approaches to the measuring of the information industry and the evaluation of informationalized level of society a DSS should be built to help decision makers to make synthetic analysis of the development of infoemation industry of a city or the whole country in many ways& at all levels.
