Abstract: With the help of scale of English learning self-efficacy, the author studies the self-efficacy of Xinjiang ethnic preparatory students in English learning and its differences in gender and grades,as well as the correlations between English achievement, learning motivation, meta-cognitive strategies and self-efficacy. The findings involve the following points: There are significant differences in English learning self-efficacy in terms of gender and grades; There are significant positive correlations between self-efficacy and English achievements, intrinsic motivations and the use of meta-cognitive strategies, while there are significant negative correlations between self-efficacy and score-targeted extrinsic motivation. The self-efficacy in English learning can predict English achievements, intrinsic motivations and the use of meta-cognitive strategies to some extent.
