The Instructional Design based on BUPT-SK Virtual Learning Environment

Abstract:

The excellent network courses rely on the high quality of instructional design and the support of multi-functional learning management system. In this paper,  “digital communication principle”, a network course with national award in 2010, was introduced as a case. At first, BUPT-SK, a virtual learning environment based on SAKAI framework and used in School of Network Education of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, was presented. Then, the detailed analysis of teaching ideas such as the student-centered instructional design, the guidance pattern, learning objects design, the theory of expectation, and initiative and personalized student supporting services and their application in instructional design were described. Finally, the application effect and the further research were discussed. The innovated ideas in the paper will be of great significance to the instructional design of other network courses.
