Abstract:

Taking Xinjiang ethnic preparatory students as subjects, the research probes into the correlation between second language learning engagement and acculturation. Besides,a comparative analysis is conducted between different gender groups, grade groups and ethnic groups. The following are the findings: ① Learning engagement in second language is at above-intermediate level, and there are significant differences in gender and grade. ② “Integration” is the dominant acculturation strategy, and “integration” and “separation” show significant differences in gender and grade. ③  “Integration” and “separation” can positively and negatively predict the second language learning engagement respectively, while “assimilation” shows no significant correlation with it.
