Abstract:

In this paper, the amount of carbon emissions due to energy consumption in Zhejiang Province from 1997 to 2008 is calculated, and a structural decomposition analysis of carbon dioxide emissions and emission intensity is set up by adopting logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method The results show that the increasing carbon emissions from energy consumption in Zhejiang Province is consistent with the growth of population and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita, especially for GDP per capita factor; decreasing the energy intensity plays a major role in decreasing carbon dioxide emissions, and the energy structure shows the trend of volatility with a lesser degree In order to build “Low-carbon Zhejiang”, “Ecological Zhejiang”, comprehensive measures should be undertaken to reduce the aggregated emissions, including re-understanding GDP per capita, controlling population, adjusting energy structure, reducing energy intensity and improving energy efficiency, and so on
