Feasibility Analysis of Teaching Objectives in Scientific Chinese Teaching#br# ——A case study of classroom activities in semester one

Abstract:

In order to provide international students as much language help as possible, a case study of classroom activities in the course of “Scientific Chinese” is conducted. Based on the discourse theories and focusing on the actual needs of students, the following teaching objectives are set: “to expand students’ vocabulary on scientific Chinese; to train effective reading skills including grasping the structure of scientific papers and identifying main ideas and key words; and to help students develop good thesis titles and proposals.” The results of one semester teaching experiment show that the teaching objectives are completely feasible.
