Empirical Study on Influencing Factors of Information Credibility of Social Media Platform

Abstract: The strong openness feature of social media platform and virtual identity of users on this platform lead to release of information with a certain degree of randomness and concealment Therefore, for information recipients, how to assess the credibility of information on social media platform has become a very important issue Based on elaboration likelihood model (ELM), the factors of influencing information credibility of social media platform are studied Data is collected by a questionnaire survey towards persons who often use Micro-blog, QQ space or WeChat Moments, and then regression analysis is used to analyze the data Results show that media dependency, interaction, media transparency, argument strength and information quality respectively has a positive effect on information credibility Knowledge level positively moderates the relationship between argument strength and information credibility But the moderating effect is not significant, among media dependence, interaction, media transparency respectively and information credibility
