Abstract:

Based on several CET-6 test papers in recent years, this paper elucidates the application of schema theory in the field of language testing.It focuses on the function that schema theory plays in the process of decoding new information and meaning construction; in the mean time, constructive suggestion is provided for English language teachers and researchers so as to implement teaching practice more effectively.In the area of language teaching, teachers are supposed to help students master as many schemata as possible; students should be able to successfully activate those schemata related to the listening material with the help of language learning strategies.The consolidation and reinforcement of schema should not be neglected in the after-listening stage.
