Abstract:

By using the eyetracking, users’ visual browsing and exploring behavior on three different styles of layouts, matrixstyle interface, waterfallstyle interface and linearstyle interface is studied The experiment results show the matrixstyle interface can realize a high searching efficiency and users’ visual pathway tend to be smoother, so it is suitable for searching situation Waterfallsstyle interface makes users easier to find interesting contents and shows more information, and it is suitable for browsing situation Users on linearstyle interface tend to focus on contents and their visual pathway seems simple, so this layout suits browsing situation with not much information
