Abstract:  With the development of VR technology, the application of VR technology in ideological and political theory courses in universities is steadily increasing, and the two gradually merge to form “VR+ideology and politics”. Opportunities and challenges faced by “VR+ideology and politics” are firstly summarized, and then the change and invariability of the field of ideological and political theory courses is expounded based on VR technology. Changes from passive reception to active perception, from established space and time to panoramic field, and from planar narration to three-dimensional scene are pointed out, but the premise of the general law of social development remains unchanged, the nature of ideological education remains unchanged and the characteristics of history, plasticity and permeability remain unchanged. Finally, the optimization strategy of ideological and political theory courses in universities based on VR technology is put forward: adhering to the fundamental task of fostering virtue, and clarifying “Tao” and “appliance” of “VR+ideology and politics”; adhering to the mainstream consciousness value guidance, and improving the paradigm of “VR+ideology and politics”; adhering to the internal and external optimization technology, and making up for the shortcomings of “VR+ ideology and politics”,in order to help improve the quality and efficiency of ideological and political theory courses in universities, and further realize the online and offline interconnection of ideological and political theory courses.

Key words: VR technology, ideological and political theory courses, “VR+ideology and politics”, optimization strategy
