Abstract:

In order to improve language teaching for the special learning group ethnic preparatory undergraduates from Xinjiang, a questionnaire survey is done on the intercultural communicative competence (ICC) of 220 ethnic students from Xinjiang in the School of Ethnic Education in Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications The results show that in the nine factors composing the students’ intercultural communicative competence, Chinese linguistic ability is relatively strong, and it is followed in order by those of social language ability, intercultural attitude, intercultural awareness, communicative strategy, intercultural knowledge, discourse ability and intercultural skills while English linguistic ability is the weakest The correlation coefficient analysis reveals that most intercultural abilities are positively correlated, and only English linguistic ability and intercultural skills are negatively correlated The partial correlation analysis indicates that communicative strategy and intercultural knowledge have a positive correlation
